As the dust begins to settle we thought it was time to take a look back at the season and hand out our Annual Awards.

As ever, we hope you will let us know if you agree or disagree. We look forward to your comments.

Team of the season.

It's easy to say this should just go to the League Winners but there are a few contenders:
  • How about a joint award to all three promoted teams who managed to avoid relegation? It's only the second time this has happened.Norwich and in particular Swansea have played some fantastic football while QPR can probably count themselves lucky.
  • Newcastle United had massive problems as a club and have probably had the most dramatic turnaround. Many of their own fans predicted a terrible season and few fancied Alan Pardew. Shrewd signings funded by the sale of talisman Carroll and a "never say die" attitude have seen the Magpies punch way above their weight.
  • Manchester City moved beyond highly paid brats (mainly) to finally put their title hoodoo to rest. Fine management, top quality and an unexpected togetherness pushed them over the finish line.

And the winner is...

Player of the Season

Which player has had the biggest impact this year?
  • Wayne Rooney has had his highest scoring Premier League season ever and at times seemed to be dragging United onwards single handed.
  • Sergio Aguero was highly rated when City broke the bank in the transfer window but as ever no one knew how he would take the move to the Premier League. From day one he has shown what a true class act he is eventually becoming City's key man.
  • Robin Van Persie. Never has so much of a Arsenal's success been down to one person. Without RVP, the Gunners would have struggled immensely. Surely a transfer target this year.

And the winner is...

Goal of the Season

This year, the Premier League has seen it's fair share of beauties but which won takes the award?

  • Papiss Cisse against Chelsea. Completely unexpected, his volley left everyone in the stadium gasping including Petr Chech.
  • Peter Crouch gave Roy Hodgson something to think about with his deft skill and outrageous lob.
  • Hatem Ben Arfa became the Geordie Messi with his powerful run and cool finish.

And the winner is..
Most ridiculous / genius decision of the Season
  • Back in January, United played City in the FA Cup. If that wasn't big enough for everyone, Fergie had a surprise up his sleeve. After 8 months of retirement Paul Scholes was making a comeback. Whether you feel this was genius or a desperate last roll of the dice  is up to you.

The "American History X" Award for Race Relations
  •  Probably best to let this one lie but Luis Suarez surely regrets his comments to Patrice Evra now and will definitely look back on the non handshake and wonder what he was thinking.

The "is Twitter the best use of your time?" award
  • For the second year running this goes to made up intellectual Professor Joey Barton. It's still worth watching his Tweets just to get a real understanding of what a balloon this lad is. The way he behaves on the pitch gives you just a glimpse into his psyche. His online comments confirm the view.

Hero of the Season

Easy, Fabrice Muamba. We hope you continue on your path to complete recovery!
